It really seems silly to have a recipe for popcorn…until you try this! We are traditionalists when it comes to our popcorn and love it made on our stove-top.
This recipe is not my original and I wish I could remember who to thank for sharing. We like to use a pot (2000 ml or just over 2 quart-sized) that has a glass lid which is awesome for popcorn making since you can see all the action!
Once you make this once or twice, it’s easy to remember too: 1/3 cup, 3 Tablespoons, 3 kernels and 30 seconds, and, it’s memorized.
We get a perfect bowl of popcorn every time with every kernel popped!

1/3 cup popcorn kernels
3 T coconut oil
salt to taste

Directions
- Add the coconut oil and just 3 popcorn kernels to the pot, cover, and place on medium heat.
- Immediately after all 3 kernels pop, remove the pot from the heat and toss in all the remaining kernels. Let rest for 30 seconds off the heat.
- Return the pot with all kernels to the heat and let the popping continue.
- Once you know most every kernel has popped (there are no longer consecutive pops happening), remove the pot from the heat and let sit for a few moments in case a few more kernels pop.
- Remove the lid, pour into your favorite popcorn bowl and sprinkle with salt. Enjoy!
